Elvin Dean Simpson Sr., 88, was born in Delight, Arkansas on April 16, 1935. He spent his younger years in Arkansas working alongside his parents, brother and sisters. He moved to Houston, TX is his later years and would spend the majority of his adult life there.

Elvin met Linda Brown Beard at Sun Valley Church of Christ in Houston, TX where they were both church members. They were married on June 20th 1981 and spent more than 42 years caring for one another and making an example of marriage and partnership for their children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

He was an established millwright and machinist and worked in various petrochemical plants spending his final 18 working years at Celanese before retiring in 1998. Upon retiring he and his wife Linda built a beautiful home in Livingston, TX where he spent his final years.

They were both loyal members of the Livingston Church of Christ attending services whenever possible.

Elvin loved to share his knowledge and teach anyone that would listen the most efficient way to complete a task. He loved working with his hands, tools and fixing things. He loved to work in his garden and sharing the fruit of his labor with others.

He knew the meaning of work ethic and taught those around him the same by example.

He spent many hours helping others both family and friends including volunteering his time to support the church. Helping was the way that Elvin shared and showed his love to his family and to others.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Grace Simpson; sisters, Veda Simpson, Roberta Blanchard , Jo Reda Gremillion, and Dessa Fenter; brother, Gene Simpson; and son by marriage, Russell Beard. Elvin was affectionately known as "Baby Boy Simpson" by his brother and sisters.

He leaves behind a devoted wife Linda Simpson, a loving family: Natural Children- Gary Simpson, Dean Simpson, Rhonda Grossheim (husband Dwayne), Children by Marriage-Carrie Beard, Kenneth Beard and Andrea Roberson (husband Steve) and numerous loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all.

Pallbearers: Kenneth Beard, Julio Castro, Gage Giglio, Dean Simpson, Nathaniel Simpson and Joshua Simpson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 31, 2023 at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Lindell Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held for 1 hour prior to the funeral services.
