IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eva Marie
Whitworth
June 26, 1943 – February 24, 2022
Eva Marie Whitworth, age 78, of Corrigan, Texas passed away February 24, 2022. Eva grew up in Camden, TX and graduated from Chester High School in 1961. A week following graduation, she married her spouse of 60 years, Larry W. Whitworth. Eva was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Corrigan and spent many years as Sunday school teacher, United Methodist Youth Fellowship leader, and as a member of the choir.
She was a homemaker for many years and once her daughters were older, she worked at the Corrigan-Camden ISD until her retirement in 2019. She loved working at the school mainly because she found a career that would allow her to do what she did best: socialize. Eva never met a stranger, she could know your whole life story after 10 minutes of meeting you.
She loved to travel and found she was able to combine both travel and socializing in one package. She was known as Meme to her grandchildren and had a special bond with each and taught them life lessons, even if some were not that appropriate! Conventional is definitely not a word anyone would use to describe her.
Eva is preceded in death by her parents, U.H. Parrish and Opal Treadway Parrish. She is survived by her husband, Larry W. Whitworth of Corrigan, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Jimmy Taylor of Corrigan; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and P.T. Mahoney of Livingston, TX; Grandchildren: Jarrod Taylor and wife Kacie; Sage Gardner and husband Zach; Madison Mahoney, and Marley Mahoney. Great Grandchildren: Jace Taylor, Kinsley Taylor, Josey Gardner, and Tatum Gardner. Brothers: Harlon Parrish and wife Linda; Ricky Parrish and wife Marsha and a host of other family members.
A Memorial Service for Eva will be held on Sunday, February 27 at 3:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Corrigan, visitation will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, family members request memorial contributions be made to the following: First United Methodist Church in Corrigan at P.O. Box 480, Corrigan Texas 75939 or to the Charlene Purvis Memorial Scholarship fund via Corrigan-Camden ISD at 504 South Home Street, Corrigan, Texas 75939.
