Everritta JoAnn Sartin Knighton Taylor, 80, of Livingston, Texas passed away Monday, August 16, 2021, in Franklin, Texas. Funeral services for Joann will be held August 28, 2021 at 11:00 am in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas. Interment will follow in the Bluewater Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 28, 2021, from 9:00 – 11:00 am, before the service begins.
JoAnn was born on September 2, 1940, in Leesville, Louisiana to parents, Mildred Broadus (Hall) and Charlie Sartin. She graduated from Port Neches High School in 1958. After high school she married Robert David Knighton in September of 1958 and they began a family. Over the years she had many jobs which included being a waitress at Alfred's of Houston and meat wrapper at several grocery stores, until she was able to follow her dream to become a nurse. She took night classes while working and raising her boys and graduated from the Angelina College nursing school in Livingston. She worked for several years with multiple doctors in Livingston and then as a ER nurse at Livingston Hospital. She moved on to work as a prenatal nurse at Northeast Medical Center. Later in life she began her own nursing agency called Knight-in-Gale.
In 1986 she met the love of her life, Marvin Wayne Taylor whom she later married. They started an automotive repair business, Radiators or More, and worked until retirement.
Joann was a loving, caring person who always put others first.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Charlie and Mildred Sartin; husband, Marvin Wayne Taylor; brother, Charles Sartin; and son, David Knighton.
JoAnn is survived by her sons, Danny Knighton and wife, Pam of Livingston, Daryl Knighton and wife Tracy of Hearne, and daughter-in-law, Tammy Knighton of College Station. Her grandchildren; Jeremy, Josh, Mitchell, Megan, DJ, Blayke, Amber and Hannah and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Jack Sartin and wife, Rose of Starks, LA, and sister, Carole Deslatte and husband, Dalton of Port Arthur, and numerous nieces and nephews.
