IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Evon H.
Schmidt
July 26, 1947 – March 23, 2020
Floy " Evon" Harless Schmidt passed away peacefully Monday, March 23, 2020 at 2:20 p.m. with family by her side. She was an extroverted, hilarious, fun, loving woman that lived on the edge for most of her life. She had the most wonderful parents who had their hands very full raising her (her rebellious nature lasted most of her life). She never met a stranger and loved making new friends. Evon was definitely the person on the roller coaster screaming and holding her arms in the air and being fearless. She loved animals, traveling and quilting. She made blankets for all of her children and grandchildren throughout the year with her quilting friends at a local quilt shop. It was interesting to see how such a fiery woman became so calm, introverted and relaxed as she aged. Evon was happy and at peace in her life and she never lost her sense of humor. After her passing, one common statement made about her by many people is that she was straight forward with the way she spoke. She always said what was on her mind. Many people admired her for that.
Evon was born in Houston, Texas on July 26, 1947 to father Blake Harless, adopted father Cecil Comer Oates and her mother Doris Jean Sims. She is preceded in death by her parents and her youngest brother ATF officer Kelly Sean Oates.
She is survived by her adoring husband of 25 years Donald Schmidt of Livingston, Texas. She is also survived by her daughter and husband Lisa Kay and Jody Brown of Montgomery, Texas and daughter and husband Kimberly Danette and August Naumann of Magnolia, Texas. Evon also had step children that she loved very much, Adam and Stephanie (who she adoringly called "Stephie") Schmidt, Thomas and Victoria Schmidt and Ida Schmidt- Smith.
She is survived by many grandchildren - Kendall Lee Ehman, Christian Allen Thomas, Cain, Collin, Kenna and Aubrey Schmidt, Jordon, Jihna and Jaydon Bellows. She was blessed to meet her precious great-granddaughter Callee Aislin Summarell last Christmas.
Ephesians 4:32 – "be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as Christ God forgave you."
"Mothers never really die, they just keep the house up in the sky, they polish the sun by day and light the stars that shine at night, keep the moonbeams silvery bright and in the heavenly home above they wait to welcome those they love."
