Francis June Hughes was born May 20, 1946, in Sulphur Springs Texas to parents Rev. Houston Wisenbaker Sr. and Francis Moran Wisenbaker and passed away peacefully October 21, 2022, in Livingston, Texas. She is proceeded in death by her parents and brother, Houston Wisenbaker Jr.

June was a preacher's kid and they moved from church to church throughout Texas and Louisiana. Their final church was located in Houston. In 1964, June graduated from Sam Houston High School and went on to Southwestern Business University. In 1966, she married Rusty Hughes, a Polk County boy. In 1969, June and Rusty moved back to Polk County and opened Rusty's Bait & Tackle. The summer of 1970 they bought the marina below the Lake Livingston Dam from Putney and Mary Moore. That's where June started serving fried fish and her famous hushpuppies. They were in continuous business in Polk County for over 48 years including Trinity River Fish Market, Lake Livingston Area Homes, and Hughes Beauty Box. Although most famously known for Hughes Catfish Inn in Livingston and Navasota. For 33 years, you could find June behind the cash register welcoming customers. She loved her customers – they were her family. The thing she missed most after retiring were her customers. She was a hard worker and had a talent for her businesses. June loved her farms and tending her cows. She named them all after the waitresses at the restaurant. June liked to travel, especially their trips to Vegas every summer. She loved those slot machines, but most of all she loved her grandkids. June was proud to be a Daughter of the American Revolution. She was a lifelong Republican and wanted to hang on long enough to be able to early vote and she almost made it.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Claude 'Rusty' Hughes of Livingston; son, Scott Hughes and wife Toni of Livingston; son, Todd Hughes of Livingston; grandsons, Hunter Hughes of Colorado Springs, Jeffrey Cagle of Spring, and Simon Hughes of Livingston; granddaughter, Becca Dillon and husband Ryan of Livingston; great-grandsons, Phoenix Hughes of Colorado Springs, Weston Dillon of Livingston, and Stetson Dillon of Livingston; special cousin, Donnie Wisenbaker and wife Beth of Sulphur Springs; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
