Funeral services for Franklin Madison Handley, 82, of the Barnes Community in Polk County, Texas, will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the Caney Creek Baptist Church in Chester, Texas with Bro. Mark Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the Feagin Cemetery in Hortense, Texas. Visitation will be held Monday, March 7, 2016 from -6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Mr. Handley was born September 23, 1933 in the Barnes Community in Polk County, Texas, to parents, Fred Handley and Sarah (Holloman) Handley, and passed away March 5, 2016 in Corrigan, Texas. Mr. Handley served as deacon for the Caney Creek Baptist Church, was a member of the school board for Chester ISD, and was a past member of the Chester Lions Club. He loved hunting, fishing, and tending to his livestock. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and teaching kids how to work hard. He was a fair person to everyone, loved things to be done correctly and took great pride in his work. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Fred Handley Jr. and John Handley; sister, Iris Bozant.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Handley of Barnes, Texas; sons, Les Handley and Teresa of Pine Grove, Texas; Bill Handley and Stacy of Barnes, Texas; David Handley and Melissa of Hudson, Texas; grandchildren, Hunter Handley of Pine Grove, Texas, Sam Handley of Barnes, Texas, John Handley of Hudson, Texas, Kelli Handley of Barnes, Texas, Eric Handley of Hudson, Texas, and Sarah Handley of Hudson, Texas; sister-in-law, Opal Handley of Baytown, Texas; special cousin, Jerry Grimes of Woodville, Texas; and numerous other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Caney Creek Baptist Church Building Fund.
