A memorial service for Gary Kidwell Walker, 82, of Livingston, Texas will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at the Cochran Funeral Home chapel in Livingston, Texas and will be officiated by Bro. Robert Murphy.

Mr. Walker was born March 29, 1941 in Hughes Springs, Texas to parents Lester Kidwell Walker and Jozie Lee "Jo" King Walker and passed away on August 7, 2023 in Livingston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Benjamin Cole Daughtrey.

Raised in Livingston, Texas, Gary loved the outdoors and was a lifelong outdoorsman. While attending Livingston High School he played numerous sports with baseball and basketball being his favorites. To this day, he still holds some records in those sports for Livingston High School. After graduating high school, Gary attended Sam Houston State University pledging Delta Tau Delta and pursuing a degree in Business Aministration.

Gary was also a member of the Texas National Guard 49th Armored Division. Later in life, Gary was elected and served as Polk County Commissioner for four years in the early 70s. He worked in the lumber business for more than 50 years.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Crow Walker of Lake Jackson, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Laura Walker of Fort Worth, Texas, Kristy Walker of Plano, Texas, Melanie Walker Glover and James Glover of Frisco, Texas, Cynthia Walker Williams and Erik Williams of Burnet, Texas; grandchildren, Philip Kersey, Hunter Kersey, Hannah Kersey, Walker Carney, Kaylin Cuevas, Wade Glover, Sydney Glover, Laurel Daughtrey, Cole Williams, and Julia Williams.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA of Livingston or to the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department.
