Gene Weldon Evans, age 71, of Livnigston, Texas, passed away Monday, May 27, 2013, in Livingston, Texas. Mr. Evans was born in Littlefield, Texas on December 14, 1941 to his parents, Loyd and Naoma Evans. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Evans, of Livingston, Texas; two sons, Gerry Solomon, of Jacksonville, Florida and Philip Solomon, of Trinity, Texas; one sister, Mary Evans, of Lubbock, Texas; two brothers, Earl Evans, of Huffman, Texas and Darrell Evans, of Conroe, Texas; seven grandchildren, Nicole Evans-Taylor, of Lubbock, Texas, Jared Evans, of Mansfield, Texas, Kloe Solomon, of Jacksonville, Florida, Lanna, Layla, Luke and Noah Solomon, all of Livingston, Texas.
Mr. Evans is preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Naoma Evans; and mother-in-law, Doris Reeves.
Gene enjoyed music. He was not only a singer/songwriter, but he also was a guitarist and played numerous other instruments. He played with Buddy Holley and the Crickets and was friends with Waylon Jennings. Gene also played with Paul McCartney in Europe and wrote songsfor Jennie C. Riley.
Memorial services for Gene Weldon Evans will be held at Revival Center Church of Onalaska on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Gerald Reeves officiating the service.
