Funeral services for Gene Farrar, 91, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Bro. Mark Terry officiating. Interment will follow in the Camp Ruby Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2019 in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.
Mr. Farrar was born on February 9, 1928 in Livingston, Texas to parents, George Farrar and Maggie (Wilson) Farrar, and passed away February 16, 2019 in Livingston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Barbara Kelly; sister, Beatrice Reddicks; and brother, Reubin Farrar. During his life, Gene lived in Houston, Corrigan, Beaumont, and Livingston. He served his country in the United States Army, worked as a veterinary assistant, and finally as a crane operator in the shipyards in Beaumont. In his free time, Gene loved going on trail rides, fishing, eating out, and attending church. He was glad in the Lord and was a man of strong integrity and intelligence. Gene had a firm voice, but a soft heart. He loved animals, especially his horse, Lady; but most of all, he loved his wife and family.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Janet Farrar of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Billie McDonald and husband, Kenneth of Woodville, Texas; daughter, Joan Fultz and husband, Peter of Poteau, Oklahoma; daughter, Susan Gail Piper and husband, James of Livingston, Texas; son, Charles Reddicks of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Wanda Clements and husband, Gary of Spring, Texas; son, James Reddicks and wife, Crystal of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Saundra Farrar of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Donna Foster and husband, Jimmy of Livingston, Texas; sister-in-law, Pauline Farrar of Beaumont, Texas; nephew, Jim Reddicks and wife, Judith of Marshall, Arkansas; nephew, Donald Reddicks and wife, Helen of Houston, Texas; 28 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
