Graveside services for George Henry Carter Sr., 97, of Houston, Texas, will be held Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. in the Carter Cemetery in Coldspring, Texas with Rev. Phil Herrington officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the service begins at 1:30 p.m. in the cemetery.
Mr. Carter was born April 23, 1925 in Willow Springs, Texas to parents, Philip Burton Carter Sr. and Jennie (Currie) Carter and passed away on May 4, 2022 in Brookshire, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vera Adelene Carter; brothers, Robert Lee Carter, Claude Carter, and Philip Burton Carter Jr.; and sisters, Aggie Mae Street, Magalea Pursley, Bessie Lewis, and Mittie Cochran. During his life, Mr. Carter proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII from 1944 to 1946. It was during this time, Mr. Carter was wounded during the Battle of Luzon and ultimately received a Purple Heart.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Carol Royer of Houston, Texas; daughter, Linda A. Caldwell and husband, Barry of Houston, Texas; and son, George H. Carter Jr. also of Houston, Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
