Funeral services for George Cooper, 96, of Tumwater, Washington, formerly of Livingston, Texas, will be held Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Central Baptist Church in Livingston, Texas with Pastor Mike Meadows officiating. Interment will follow in the Center Grove Cemetery with Military Honors provided by VFW Post# 8568. A Masonic ceremony will be conducted by the Masonic Trinity Lodge #14 AF&AM and a ceremony by the Order of the Easter Star. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.
George Cooper, 96, passed away May 6, 2015 at the Hampton Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Tumwater, Washington. He was born November 4, 1918 to Ferg and Bertha Cooper in Port Arthur, Texas. He served in the Army for two years prior to WWII in the Panama Canal Zone, and then was transferred to infantry in the European theater during the war. George retired as a lieutenant in the Canal Zone Police Force, and was an ordained minister. He was a lifelong member of his local church wherever he was living, and a lifetime member of the Masons. George is survived by two sons; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a brother; and a sister. He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Dorcas; five brothers sisters.
