Interment will follow in the Bluff Creek Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. George was born September 17, 1946 to Ileadus and Matilda Brazial Harrell in Livingston, Texas. He passed away June 23, 2022 in Lufkin, Texas.

George graduated from Livingston High School in 1965 and was the President of his class.  He went on to earn his B.S. in Agriculture Science from Sam Houston in 1969 where he met his wife, Phyllis Fuller. They married in 1969 in Linden, Texas and moved to Weslaco, Texas to teach school. He grew up attending Soda Baptist Church but did not make a public profession of faith until he and Phyllis joined the First Baptist Church in Weslaco. He taught Science in Weslaco and Conroe ISD and later taught Vocational Industrial Education at Livingston High School after earning a Vocational Industrial teaching certificate from Texas A&M. He taught Heavy Equipment at the Prison System, where he said he didn't have to worry about discipline with a double barrel shotgun in the back of the room.

George loved to work and seldom took a day off. He loved to wake up early and serve the clients of George Harrell Construction, where he was a master at dirt work using a dozer or excavator. He also used his woodworking talents in many homes and creations, and the fruits of his work can be seen all over Polk County and even the state. He spent so much time at the saw mill that he received the Wood-Mizer One Million Board Feet Club Award in 2012.  George was multi-talented and had a strong work ethic, and always said that if it was a dirty or dangerous job, it was his job.

Known for helping others, George never met a stranger and always had a story to share. He loved breeding Angus cattle, riding his horses, and every aspect of farm life. George overcame cancer and was active in Relay for Life. He served Central Baptist Church as Sunday School teacher, usher, deacon, and on many committees. He served on the Livingston School Board of Education for 17 years. He served as Director of the Polk County Farm Board for over 40 years, serving as President from 1982-1988, as Secretary and Treasurer, and on many committees. He served on the Farm Bureau State Legislative Committee and attended many State and National Conventions as a voting delegate. George was a Director of the Bluff Creek Cemetery Association and served on the USDA Farm Services Agency since 2018, most recently as President.

More than anything, George loved his family. His son Kyle was his proudest accomplishment, and he didn't miss a football game he played at LHS or Texas State, or many of the games he coached. He was so proud to see him inducted into the Texas State Athletic Hall of Honor in 2021. George was also so proud of his three grandchildren. He made it to many of Lily's volleyball games and track meets, sometimes driving to San Antonio and back in a day to see her play. He called her his Little Darling and was so happy she shared his love of horses. One of his proudest moments was watching Lily earn a medal in the 4x400 relay at the State Track Meet in Waco in May. He bragged about Hope's graduation from Texas State in just three years, the work ethic she inherited from him, and the technology skills she got elsewhere. George was tickled by his only grandson and namesake Fuller George, who inherited George's toughness and love of music. George showed his love in the hard work he did, the sacrifices he made, and the way he treasured his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of Livingston; son, Kyle and wife Elissa of San Antonio; and grandchildren, Hope, Lily and Fuller George Harrell of San Antonio; brother, Paul (Frances) of Livingston; and sister, Beth (Wayne) of Shepherd; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Boring of Hurst and Jo Beth Fuller of Linden; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends who became family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ileadus and Matilda Harrell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in George's name may be given to the Livingston Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, Central Baptist Church, or SaveThem.org, an organization that rescues trafficking victims.
