Obituary
Funeral Services for George Alvin Pounds, 74, of Corrigan, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017 in the First Baptist Church in Corrigan, Texas with Dr. Collin Bullard and Bro. Buster Grigg officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Corrigan, Texas. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Corrigan, Texas.
Mr. Pounds was born June 30, 1942 in Knox County, Tennessee to parents, Theodore Roosevelt Pounds and Mary Elizabeth (McClain) Pounds. He married the love of his life Elizabeth Ray Sharp in Sneedville, Tennessee on September 3, 1960. He loved the Lord with all his heart and served him joyfully by preaching the gospel. He was also an amazing automobile mechanic and owned his own business, George's Garage for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold Pounds; sister, Mary Jo Vellasia; and sister-in-law, Christine Pounds.He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Elizabeth Pounds of Corrigan, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Chyrl Pounds of Woodville, Texas; daughter, Bethany Wright of Corrigan, Texas; daughter, Rachel Pounds of Groveton, Texas; son and fiancée, Joel Pounds and Amanda Anders of Porter, Texas; son-in-law, Jimmy Wright of Corrigan, Texas; and son, Jonathan Pounds; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Adam Grissom, Amber and Jae Tunello, Ashtin and Chris Robertson, Zachary Pounds and Rebekah Flores, Kristyn Wright and Adam Engle, Skye Elizabeth Pounds, Cassidy Wright and Derrick Davis, Alyssa Ener and Hector Lopez, Chelsea Rachal and Brandley Conner, Rachael Wright, Jayden Pounds, Zeeva Pounds, Arabella Pounds, Lane Pounds, Brenna Pounds, Noah Pounds, and Jax Pounds; great grandchildren, Rilan, Logan, and Paxton Grissom, Lucian Tunello, Abby, Greysen, Grace, Raelee Robertson, Marae, Caedence, and Payzleigh Pounds, Cailie, Kenzie, and Summer Engle, Cimberly McClendon and baby on the way, and Hadlee Conner; brothers and sisters, Jackie and Betty Pounds, Brenda Riley, Ann Elise Poore, Paralee Johnson, Carl Pounds, Eddie and Jewell Pounds, and Irene Pounds; and numerous other family and friends.
