Funeral services for George Donald Robinson Jr., 89, of Onalaska, Texas, will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. in the Onalaska Church of Christ in Onalaska, Texas with Homer Anderson and Toni Lalli officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the VFW Post #8568. Interment will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska, Texas. Visitation will be held Monday, January 27, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Onalaska, Texas.
Mr. Robinson was born May 6, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan to parents, George Donald and Rhoda (Miller) Robinson Sr., and passed away on January 23, 2014 in Onalaska, Texas. He helped build the church building for the Onalaska Church of Christ, and he and his wife Bernie were charter members of Onalaska Church of Christ. George proudly served in the United States Army Air Force, during World War II, making 37 combat missions as a lower turret gunner in a B-17 Flying Fortress. He retired in 1979, as a conductor for 32 years, for the Pennsylvania Railroad in Logansport, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 67 years, Bernie Robinson; sisters, Betty Robinson and Pat Johnson.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Donald R. and Thuy Robinson of Onalaska, Texas; son, James Robinson of Onalaska, Texas; grandson and wife, Eric George and Colanda Robinson of Webster, Texas; granddaughter, Dawn Marie Coe of Royal Center, Indiana; great grandchildren, Desiree Coe and Damon Coe of Royal Center, Indiana; sisters, Jerry Cowell of Daytona, Florida and Jacquelyn Ross of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; brother, William Rouch of South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
