Obituary

Funeral services for Georgia Sides Bailey, 81, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas with Blue Hagemeier, Carla Lewis, and Debra Jenke officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until the service begins at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 14th in the funeral home.

Georgia Elizabeth Sides Bailey was born December 9, 1938 in Weldon, Texas to parents John Edgar Sides and Mary Shifflett Sides. Her family later moved to Angleton, Texas for her dad to work at Dow Chemical Company. She graduated from Angleton High School in 1956. She went to business school in Houston, Texas after graduation and became a secretary for Dow Chemical. She was only seventeen years old at the time, but was hired by Dow because of her skills in Latin and her scores on a vocabulary test. In 1956 she married Fred Hagemeier and to this union, 3 children were born: Debra Hagemeier Jenke, Karla Hagemeier Lewis and James Frederick (Blue) Hagemeier. She was a stay at home mom after her children were born and taught piano lessons while living in West Columbia, Texas. After moving to Livingston, Texas in January of 1969, she worked part-time at Camp Cho-yeh.  She worked at Livingston Drug and then Polk County Publishing doing bookkeeping and payroll.

In July 1982, she married Leon Bailey and gained another daughter, Linda Loyce Bailey O'Bryan. Georgia was a long time member of First United Methodist Church of Livingston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Mary Sides; daughter, Linda O'Bryan; brothers, Curtis Sides and James Sides; and sisters, Lorene Wade and Nola Matheny.

She is survived by husband, Leon Bailey of Livingston; daughters, Debra Jenke and husband, Ralph of Livingston, Karla Lewis and husband, Ross of Livingston; son, James (Blue) Hagemeier and wife, Tracey of Livingston; and sister, Bette Sides Sweeny of Alvin, TX.

Georgia, known as Mum-mum, loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with her whole heart. She was happiest when she was with them. She is survived by grandchildren, April Haynes Wunderlick and husband, Joe of Dallas, Andrew Haynes and wife, Amanda of Livingston, Austin Haynes and wife, Brenda of Livingston, Brooke Haynes Koop and husband, Jack of Houston and their father, John Haynes of Livingston, Ben Lewis of Kingwood, Erin Hagemeier of Houston and Davis Hagemeier of Livingston, Audrey Jenke Clark and husband, Christian of Bend, Oregon, Susan Jenke of Nashville, Tennessee, and Karen Jenke Stoneberg and husband, Kaden of Nashville, Tennessee. She is survived by great-grandchildren, Jack and Luke Wunderlick of Dallas, Aiden and Allie Haynes of Livingston, Ian Haynes of Livingston, Jillian and Audrey Mynatt of Nashville, Tennessee, and Jackson, Jacob and Elizabeth Clark of Bend, Oregon.
