Obituary

Gerald Wesley Bloomfield (97), born June 18th, 1927 in Saratoga, Texas to parents Fred and Ila Bloomfield joined the Lord Sunday morning Aug 18th, 2024 in Humble, Texas at NE Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Until about the age of 3, he lived in the woods on a narrow-gauge rail car used by the timber company.  After the Depression shut down the logging industry, he moved to and grew up in Carlisle, Texas and upon graduation from Groveton High School in 1945 was drafted into the US Navy. Two years after leaving the Navy he was again drafted this time by the US Army.

A member of the Eastern Star #284 Masonic Lodge in Groveton, Texas, he was also an electrician and member of IBEW local 716 for 74 years working on the Astrodome during its construction – retiring to Livingston, TX in 1990.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising cattle, gardening, watching Dallas Cowboys football, and coaching baseball, because "…nobody else would".

He is preceded in death by his father and mother; brothers Arvel and Donald Ray.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Anita Sue Bloomfield; sons Glenn Bloomfield and wife Dahni, Gary Bloomfield and wife Alejandrina; grandchildren, Shelby Bloomfield, Ann Bloomfield, and Brian Bloomfield; and many other friends and family.

Funeral Services will be held at Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas. Thursday August 22, 2024 at 11:00AM with visitation from 10AM to 11AM. Burial Services will be held at Carlisle Cemetery following the service.
