Glen McNiel slipped away on Sunday morning July 27, 2014 following an impressive stroke survival journey of almost twenty years. Glen's legacy for his wife, Carlene, his two daughters, his seven grandchildren, his thirteen great grandchildren, his two step children and his many friends, is one of facing adversity without complaint and awaking each morning with a positive attitude and a hot cup of coffee. As the slow progression of muscle weakness took its toll, his fishing adventures evolved into fishing stories that were filled with the same exuberance. Instead of a motorized scooter, he chose a riding lawn mower so he could continue a productive lifestyle. His love of people and desire to help made him a positive force for the Outlaw Ridge subdivision. He never quit, he never complained, he never attended a pity party. He left a legacy of: it's not what happens to you in life that matters, it is what you do with what happens to you that matters.
Glen was the youngest of seven children born to Artie and Jimmie McNiel of Moody, Texas on June 5, 1943. Glen will return to Moody and join the family that has preceded him in the McNiel plot in the Moody cemetery. Glen's brother, Benny McNiel, his daughters Brenda Shepherd and Tammy Ingraham of Gatesville, TX and his step children Lisa Harvey and Robby Davis will carry on his legacy.
Cochran Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Please sign our online guestbook at www.cochranfh.com.
