Obituary

Memorial services for Glenn Weldon Patterson Sr., 95, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Friday, May 31, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Livingston, Texas with Rev. Steve Woody and Rev. Brian Waddell officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 30, 2019, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Mr. Patterson was born January 10, 1924 in Marlin, Texas, to parents, Carson Oliver Patterson and Nannie Jewell (Coleman) Patterson, and passed away May 27, 2019 in Livingston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Corinne Delleney; and first wife, Daune Patterson.

Glenn's parents, Carson Oliver and Nannie Jewell Patterson were married in 1916, and his dad operated a garage and blacksmith shop in the Odds Community where they lived. They has three children; Corienne, Iris, and Glenn. Glenn's father was killed in 1931 when an electrical wire fell on a fence during a storm. His mom, Jewell, and the three children moved back to Marlin. Glenn graduated from Marlin High School in 1942. He was on the basketball team and was also a cheerleader. He joined the Navy in December 1942. While in the Navy, Glenn met his first wife, Daune Rita Emish. They were stationed at Skaggs Naval Base and were attached to the Cryptology Brigade assisting in breaking the Japanese encrypted code. Daune and Glenn were married on August 25, 1945 while on leave in Waco, Texas. They had three children; Glenn, Carson, and Bartley. After WWII, Glenn went to school on the G.I. Bill. He attended Daniel Baker Junior College and transferred to the University of Texas in Austin, where he graduated in 1951 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. He was recruited by Shell Oil Co. and was assigned to their offices in Corpus Christi, New Orleans, Oklahoma and Houston. In 1956, he was recruited by Robert Mosbacher, a successful independent oil operator, to become their Petroleum Engineer for the next 17 years. Glenn then pursued a career as a consultant, where he worked for several operators in South Texas, Louisiana and even drilling a well for the Spanish government off the shore of Spain.

Glenn and his wife, Georgann were married November 11, 1975. Glenn adopted her son, Wayne in 1977. Soon after they were married, Glenn went to work for Pend Oreille Oil and Gas Co. as head of Drilling and Production. He was then recruited by newly formed oil company, Realm Resources, in 1982 to be their Executive Vice President of Operations and Production. Soon after he retired from Realm in 1989, Glenn and Georgann moved from Houston to Livingston to live on the lake. They have resided on the lake for the past 30 years. In his spare time, Glenn enjoyed fishing, boating, riding the jet-ski, and playing golf. He was also a member of the Senior Men's Golf Association, Grasshoppers Golf Group and Poco Vino.

He is survived by his wife, Georgann Patterson of Livingston; sons, Glenn "Pat" W. Patterson Jr. and wife, Susan, Carson J. Patterson and wife, Bonnie, Bart S. Patterson, and Wayne S. Patterson and wife, Cindy all of Houston; grandchildren, Brian Patterson and wife, Katie, Kathryn Tipton and husband, Tyler, Jennifer Wright and husband, Hunter, Daune Patterson, Erin Ramirez and husband, Zane, and Wayne S. Patterson Jr.; and sister, Iris Danklefs of Garwood, Texas; along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
