Obituary

Grace Lee Luna died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on April 2, 2022, at the age of 72.

Grace was born on August 11, 1949, in communist China to parents Ren Chun Lee and Shrfeng Wang Lee. At the age of one, she and her parents left everything behind to go to Taiwan in order to live in a free democratic society. She was raised and went to school in Taiwan. Grace found joy in education and was always a dedicated student. In 1973, she earned a scholarship to come to the United States for graduate school. In 1981, she obtained her doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Nebraska in Omaha.

During the last year of school she found the love of her life, Ray, who was in his last year of medical school. They met as housemates during an externship on a Navajo Reservation in Crownpoint, New Mexico. They married on July 2, 1983 and moved to Livingston in 1985. This would be her home and final resting place.

Grace worked as a pharmacist at the Livingston hospital and a consultant pharmacist at Tyler County Hospital in Woodville. She enjoyed her work and especially the interactions she had with people. Grace had the unique ability to recognize and appreciate the goodness in anyone she came across. She truly loved Livingston and the community she was a part of. Grace was extremely generous to causes important to her including medical research, renewable energy, and organizations such as The Nature Conservancy and The Carter Foundation.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Ning Chia Lee. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Raymond Luna; son, Dr. Jeffrey Luna; daughter, Ann Winston; daughter-in-law, Dr. Vien Pham; son-in-law, Dr. Sean Karl Winston; grandsons, Sean Lee Winston and Julian Winston; granddaughters, Grace Winston, Kaitlyn Luna and Kristyn Luna; brothers, Curtis Lee and Ning Chiang Lee and their families.
