IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gracie Louise
Hood
April 12, 1937 – June 22, 2023
Services for Gracie Louise Hood, 86, of Livingston, Texas, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Bethel Baptist Church in Livingston, Texas and will be officiated by Bro. Jim Moss and Bro. Harold Isaacs. Interment will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, June 26, 2023 at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas.
Gracie Louise Hood was born April 12, 1937 in Livingston, Texas and passed away June 22, 2023 at her home in Livingston, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Calobe "C.L." Moore and Clara (Eaton) Moore; and husband, Bro. Frank Hood.
Gracie graduated from Leggett High School in May of 1954. She then went on to graduate from business school. After graduating business school, Gracie was employed in Livingston by the R.E.A. (before it became Sam Houston Electric Cooperative), then later at Polk County Motor Company.
September 1, 1956 she married Frank Edward Hood of Livingston, Texas. She and Frank later moved to Nacogdoches, Texas in order for him to return to school. Gracie worked for Southern Pacific Railroad in Nacogdoches while her husband earned his second Bachelor's degree.
Frank surrendered to the ministry in 1961. Gracie served alongside him at Oakdale Baptist Church, Livingston, Texas. Later, he became a local missionary at which time he began and organized Chesswood Baptist Church, Livingston, Texas. Gracie tirelessly supported the church as pastor's wife for 29 years, tending to the spiritual needs of the community and the members of Chesswood Baptist Church. In 1995, Bro. Frank resigned from Chesswood Baptist Church. He and Gracie then served the congregation of Soda Baptist Church as pastor and wife from November of 1995 through December of 2010. Amazingly, she did these things while rearing four children, tending gardens, putting up vegetables, cooking, cleaning, and keeping Bro. Frank's shirts washed and ironed for the next church service, funeral, or revival.
Gracie asked Jesus to be her Lord and Savior at an early age. She loved worshipping Him and telling everyone she knew about His unconditional love. She witnessed faithfully throughout her bout with cancer to the nurses, doctors, patients, and caregivers. Her biggest concern was that all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren accept Christ as his or her personal Lord and Savior.
Gracie is survived by her daughters, Melody Aragon and husband Frank of Livingston, Texas, Cindy Hester and husband, Charlie, of La Porte, Texas, and Mary Booth and her husband, Paul, of Clifton, Texas; son, Andy Hood and wife, Tiphany, of Red Oak, Texas; sister, Judy Isaacs, and husband, Harold of Leggett, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers: Frank Aragon, Carlos Aragon, Daniel Aragon, Matthew Aragon, John Sheffield, Sam Sheffield, Ryan Hester, Drue Hood, Tyce Hood, Kase Hood, and Gehrig Booth.
Honorary Pallbearers: Calobe Isaacs, Jason Stephens, Stuart Overstreet, and Bobby Claude Isaacs.
