Funeral services for Gretchen Gerlach Chambers, 81, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church in Livingston, Texas. Interment will follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held Friday, March 2, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Mrs. Chambers was born January 12, 1937 in Livingston, Texas to parents, Charles Jr. Gerlach Jr. and Ruth (Dotsy) O'Hara, and passed away Friday, February 23, 2018 in her daughter's home in Ft. Worth, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marjory Brasfield; and her loving aunt, Isabel Gerlach.

Gretchen graduated from Livingston High School and then from the University of Texas in Austin and received a degree in Education. She began her teaching career in Corpus Christie, Texas. It was there that she met and married John Chambers. Her teaching career took her to Harlingen, Spring Branch, Katy, and Richardson, Texas. She left education to work at Computer Language Research in Addison, Texas. She returned to Livingston, in 1985, and resumed her teaching career. After retiring in 2006, she taught an additional 6 years for the Region VI Service Center. She taught ESL and tutored students pursuing their GED. Gretchen was a 41 year cancer survivor. She will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, and friend.

Gretchen's loving family includes her daughters, Carol Ann Chambers of Granberry and Cecilia Alice (Chambers) Law and husband, Danny, of Ft. Worth; sister, Ruth Gerlach Dominy and husband Tommy, of Livingston; special cousins, Brooks and Sandy Haley of Dallas. She was blessed with a beautiful granddaughter, Emma Grace Law of Ft. Worth. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends..
