Funeral services for Hasteen Matthews, 87, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Shepherd, Texas with Quentin Matthews and Bro. Joe Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Cemetery in Shepherd, Texas. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until service time, in the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Shepherd, Texas.

Mrs. Matthews was born January 17, 1930 in Long Street, Louisiana to parents, Claybon Johnson and Louvenia Johnson, and passed away December 6, 2017 in Houston, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eddie Matthews; sons, Dwight Johnson, Nobah Johnson, and Lorenzo Matthews; daughters, Annie Mae Johnson and Eddie Marie Youngblood.

She is survived by her daughter, Louvenia Matthews and Melvin of Tarkington, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Quentin and Marsha Matthews of Livingston, Texas; son-in-law, George Youngblood Sr. of Livingston, Texas; grandchildren, Shera Johnson, Cassandra Johnson, and James Johnson all of Houston, Texas, George Youngblood Jr. of Nacogdoches, Texas, Mark Youngblood of Shepherd, Texas, LaShonda McAdams of Coldspring, Texas, Alayna Matthews of Austin, Texas, Quentin J. Matthews and Marcus Matthews both of Livingston, Texas, Brittany Matthews of Houston, Texas, and Amber Matthews of Nacogdoches, Texas; and a host of other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
