A funeral mass for Hazel Marie Champagne Reeves, 91, of Livingston, Texas will be held on September 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Livingston, Texas with Father Tarsisius Puling, SVD officiating.
Hazel Marie Champagne Reeves was born on October 27, 1929, in Port Neches, Texas. She went to the Lord on May 01, 2021, at her home in Livingston, Texas with her husband at her side. She is preceded in death by sons, Joseph and Clifton Frank Reeves of Pasadena, Texas; her father and mother, John and Mary Marie Champagne of La Porte, Texas; brother, Harold Champagne of Winnie, Texas; and son, Mitchell Frank Reeves of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is survived by her husband, Frank Reeves of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Gail Reeves Cole and husband David, of Lockney, Texas; daughter-in-law, Anita Placette Reeves of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; her sister-in-law, Mae Reeves Teske and husband Jay of Timpson, Texas; grandchildren Michael Frank and Justin Gabriel Reeves of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Wendi Marie Sturgeon and husband Greg of Dayton, Texas; Kodi Marie Cole Haymes and husband Kyle of York, Pennsylvania, Asa Tanner Cole and wife Senee' of Tulia, Texas; great-grandchildren Halie Marie Sturgeon of Dayton, Texas; Braxton Tate Cole of Lockney, Texas; Sterley Ann and Slade Cole of Tulia, Texas; and many beloved nephews, nieces, and cousins.
An accomplished painter who studied and belonged to artists' groups in Pasadena, Sargent, and Livingston, Texas, her paintings were displayed in many art shows. A member in good standing of the Catholic Daughters Association in Pasadena and Livingston, Texas; an artistic seamstress for her family and designer of many costumes of Square Dance groups; Co-President of Texas State Camping Squares and various Square Dance clubs in Texas; a long-time member of Garden Clubs in Pasadena and Livingston; she was beloved and respected by all.
Her professional career included policewoman at the Pasadena Police Department and teacher of Physical Education in the Pasadena Independent School District.
She was an excellent wife, mother, daughter, daughter-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, friend, and supporter of all. Heaven's great gain is our greater loss.
