Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Farley Chapel Cemetery in Shepherd, Texas. Rev. David Goddard will conduct the service.
Helen was born on December 1, 1942 in Galesburg, Illinois, to parents, Frank Sloan and Irene Smith Sloan. She passed away on April 22, 2012, at her home in Shepherd. Helen and DeWitt ""Skip"" York married on June 14, 1963, in Galesburg, Illinois. She is preceded in death by her husband, ""Skip"" York; her parents, Frank and Irene Sloan and sister, Penny Lynn. Helen is survived by her daughter, Debra Gibbs of Shepherd, Texas; sister, Karen Minor of Avington, Illinois; grandchildren, Michael Gibbs and wife, Ashley, Matthew Gibbs and wife, Patricia, Christina DeForest and husband, Virgle; seven great grandchildren, Nicole, Christian, Lauryn, Damion, Gwenith, Isabell and Alyssa.
