Obituary
Visitation for Hershel Glen Altom, 79, of Theodore, Alabama and formally of Livingston, Texas, will be held Saturday, September 20, 2014 beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas.
Mr. Altom was born July 23, 1935 in Houston, Texas to parents, Loice Edward Altom and Della (Byrd) Altom, and passed away September 16, 2014 Theodore, Alabama. During his lifetime he was a tugboat captain and also proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie Fern (Phillips) Altom; son, Forest Dean Altom; daughter, Sherry Altom Franklin; brother, Louie Dall Altom; sister, Patsy Lou Altom Mitchel; and grandson, Rodney Lane Altom.
He is survived by his sons, Terry Edward Altom of Theodore, Alabama, Garry Wayne Altom of Wilmer, Alabama, Micheal Altom of Livingston, Texas, Danny Ray Altom of Cuero, Texas; daughter, Diana Lynn Salazar; 9 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; sister, Mabel Elizabeth Altom Miller of Haynesville, Louisiana; 2 nieces; 2 nephews; and numerous other relatives and friends.
