Obituary
Graveside services for Howard "Ray" Swanner, 75, of Katy, Texas, will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
Mr. Swanner was born on February 14, 1939 in Washington, North Carolina and passed away on August 25, 2014 in Katy, Texas. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and later married Barbara Swanner on May 20, 1961 in Norwich, Connecticut. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie G. Swanner and Sally (Hodges) Swanner; wife, Barbara M. Swanner; brother, Charlie G. Swanner, Jr.; and sister, Ellen J. Dayton.
He is survived by his daughter, Kyra Swanner of Katy, Texas; daughter, Krista Smith of Monroe, North Carolina; daughter and son-in-law, Kim Gustafson and Eric of Katy, Texas; grandchildren, Kyle Smith, Daniel Gustafson, and Zachary Gustafson; brother, James Swanner of Jacksonville, Florida; sisters, Hope Ward of Summerville, South Carolina, Darnell Jones of Washington, North Carolina, Mary Lane Stewart of Hampton, Virginia, and Linda Mason of Fayetteville, Georgia; brother-in-law, Michael McGlaflin of Centerville, Virginia; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Honorary pallbearers: Kyle Smith, Daniel Gustafson, Zachary Gustafson, and Eric Gustafson.
