Funeral services for Iva Bell Brooks, 91, of Livingston, Texas will be held Saturday October 22, 2022 at the First Baptist Church, Livingston, Texas. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm with the service following at 2:00 pm. Graveside will follow at Camp Ruby Cemetery where she will be laid to rest.
Mrs. Brooks was born on August 11, 1931 in Pelly, Texas to parents Rennie Reeves and Ida (Crowson) Reeves and passed away peacefully in Livingston, Texas October 10, 2022.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George Brooks; son, Ronald Brooks; parents, Rennie and Ida Reeves; sisters, Louis Evans, Lottie Mae Courtney and Doris Spears; brothers, Monroe Reeves, J.D. Reeves, Aaron "Bud" Reeves, O.K. Reeves, and Leonard Reeves.
She is survived by her son, George Ray Brooks and wife Debbie of Cedar Park, Texas; daughter, Connie Brooks Carpenter of Livingston, Texas and special friend Steve Brown of Kerrville, Texas; daughter-in-law, Margaret Brooks of Livingston, Texas; grandsons, Cody Brooks, Blake Brooks, Chase Brooks, Kane Carpenter and wife Brittani, Coy Carpenter and wife Magen, Derek Brooks, Darin Brooks, Dillon Brooks and wife Alicia; great grandchildren, Ellyssa Brooks, Cypress Brooks, Phoenix Brooks, Blaine Carpenter, Macie Carpenter, Liam Carpenter, Madysen Carpenter, and Easton Carpenter; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She married George Brooks in Woodville, Texas on April 16, 1949 and they lived their entire marriage of 64 years in Livingston, Texas. She and her husband were both baptized at Providence Baptist Church in 1951. They then went on to raise a family of three children while both working full time jobs in the same industry for 30 plus years to slowing down to enjoy become grandparents and great grandparents.
If there is one phrase that described how she lived her life as a whole it was "Where there is a Will….There is a Way".
