Obituary

Memorial services for Jack (James Jackson) Laird, 79, of San Antonio, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 18, 2017 in Center Grove Cemetery in Livingston, Texas.

Mr. Laird passed away on November 5, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on March 3, 1938 near Ollie, Texas; to Ruth Rosena Gassiot Laird and Robert Weldon Laird. James is preceded in death by his father Robert and mother Ruth Laird, his sister Bobby Schumacher and her husband Bill, his sister Margaret Laird and sister in law Matilda (Butch) Laird, brother John Archibald Laird and son Jeffrey Lynn Laird.

Jack is survived by his children Teresa (Brian) Schmidt, Sandra (Steve) Schumacher and Edward Laird. Two brothers William (Bill) Laird and Weldon Laird.   He also leaves behind five grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Jack joined the Air Force about 1956 and married Frances Wostal while he was stationed at Biloxi MS in training then was sent to Taiwan where he served out his three year enlistment as a radar intercept operator in a war time capacity watching Red China.

He worked at Halliburton in Corpus Christi, as a supervisor and other Oil field companies. Worked for Medina's children home. Later moved to Livingston where he operated his own logging truck in Livingston. He also enjoyed taxidermy and spending time with his horses.

He had a second marriage of ten years to Jennifer Hines with two stepdaughters, Melissa and Cindi.

In 2011 he resided in San Antonio in a Nursing home close to his daughter until his time of passing.
