Funeral services for James Allen Burnett, 70, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Sunday, April 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Rev. Larry Shine officiating. Interment will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska, Texas. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Mr. Burnett was born on January 28, 1944 in Houston, Texas to parents, Buster Burnett and Mattie (Chatman) Burnett, and passed away on April 3, 2014 at his home in Livingston, Texas. He married the love of his life and had 23 wonderful years. He became the happiest man once he found God and that is when his life changed. He loved God and his church family and when they had dinners he was there, always willing to help any way he could. If someone asked him to help around the church he was always willing to do it.

He retired from Harrison Paint and Body Shop after working there for 35 years. After retirement he spent his time raising a garden. He loved to plant and see the garden grow and produce and got a great blessing sharing it with others. His hobbies were horseback riding, fishing and gardening.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lorine Smith; brothers, Bearron Burnett and Roland Burnett.

He is survived by wife, Clara Burnett of Livingston, Texas; sons, James Thomas Burnett and wife Jo Ann of San Antonio, Texas, Doug Hamilton and wife Erika of Lufkin, Texas; daughters, Frances Dubose and husband Mark of Livingston, Texas, Kimberly Burnett of Livingston, Texas; six grandchildren, Dallas Barker, Samantha Hamilton, Valerie Hamilton, Zachery Wilson, Alexis Stevens, Addison Dubose; three brothers, Coleman Burnett and wife Carolyn of Goodrich, Texas, Frank Burnett and wife Betty of Livingston, Texas, Roy Burnett and wife Rosie of Livingston, Texas; numerous other relatives and friends, and his two pets, Foxy and Ko Ko.

Pallbearers: Jimmy Burnett, Lenoard Chatman, Eddie Clifton, Shane Burnett, Frank Burnett, Billy Burnett.
