Funeral services for James Robert Conway, 71, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Bro. Ron Liesmann officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Mr. Conway was born June 7, 1943 in Lufkin, Texas to parents, Robert and Vera (Craig) Conway, and passed away October 11, 2014 in Livingston, Texas. He graduated in 1962 from South Houston High School. He proudly served the state of Texas with many careers that included ambulance driver, Harris County Sheriff Deputy and State of Texas Department of Transportation. Mr. Conway was commissioned as a Harris County Sheriff Deputy from 1970 – 1972. In 1972, he started a career with the Texas Department of Transportation where he held the positions of Courtesy Patrol Officer, emergency dispatcher and engineer technician in the Heavy Load Permit Office. His career spanned 25 years with the Texas Department of Transportation. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Linda Conway, and sister-in-law, Jerri Conway.

James Conway had too many life experiences to mention and he lived them and cherished each. He always said the most wonderful day in his life was the day he met his wife, Bettie and her two children, Donnie and Barbara. He also said the day his son, Jim Conway, was born and the birth of his granddaughter, Brittany were among the most memorable days of his life. Mr. Conway wanted to say thanks to everyone who made his life a trip – especially his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Bettie Conway of Livingston, Texas; son, Jimmy Conway of Chicago, Illinois; son and daughter-in-law, Don McAdams and Jackie Hampton of Kingwood, Texas; daughter, Barbara McAdams of Anna, Texas; brother, Joe Conway of Clear Lake, Texas; granddaughter, Brittany Conway of Chicago, Illinois; granddaughter, Erika Hampton of Kingwood, Texas and numerous other relatives and friends.
