James E. Gregory Sr. was born to J.Q. Gregory and Wilda Brunson in Eunice Louisiana, May 4 th , 1948. Passed away on October 8 th , 2017. Preceded in death by his parents, J.Q. Gregory and Wilda Brunson, and sister Juanita Gregory. Survived by his loving wife, Sally Gregory, two sisters Ada Schupska and her husband Bill Schupska and Florence Huddleston, and five children Laurie Barnes, Rebecca Boyd, James Jr. and Meghan Gregory, Kellye and husband Jon Hoppis, and Timothy Nelson, and grandchildren Danielle and husband Francisco Chavez, Stephanie and husband Timothy Flanigan, Michelle Dornoff, Steven Roberds, Justin Roberds, David Roberds, Christopher Roark, Allia Roark, Trisha and husband Manuel Mata, Eternity Gregory, Quentin Gregory, Landon Lawler-Gregory, Bentley Lawler-Gregory, Jon Jr. and wife Melissa Hoppis, Brittani Geuppis, and Robyn and husband Richard Roberts, and twenty-one great grandkids.
James and his wife were very close with his sisters and brother in law, they enjoyed playing pranks on each other, taking trips together, and many, many nights of card and board games throughout his life. He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors with family. He was a collector of Coca-Cola memorabilia and antiques. He loved building and racing funny cars and 'rail' dragsters and did so for several years winning multiple trophies in his younger years. He taught Little League Baseball for seven years with his wife, Sally and his brother-in-law, Bill Schupska, and together led them to the state championship playoffs. He became fond of gambling in his later years, enjoying a good game of chance, though he became competitive when it came to family and would pout if the grandkids beat him. He was an electrician for 53 years working all over the country; working on residential as well as Nuclear projects. He helped to wire many of the buildings found here in Livingston like the Junior High School and the TDC unit. He even built the home he lived in so his wife and he could finally move out of their RV after losing their home to hurricane Rita. He is dearly missed and has left a hole in our lives that will never be filled. But our memories will bring us the smiles and warm feelings we will use to carry us through this loss. We Love you Gramps.
There will be no services of any kind as that was what he had requested, he will be cremated and there will be a family gathering at the home to remember the good times.
