Memorial services for James William "Jay" Barbee, 78, of Livingston, Texas will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Bro. Byron Lyons officiating. Graveside services will be held Sunday, March 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Maypearl Cemetery in Maypearl, Texas.

Mr. Barbee was born October 15, 1935 in West Memphis, Arkansas and passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014 in Livingston, Texas. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. In 1997 he went to work for the Polk County Sheriff's Department as an environmental enforcement officer. He helped create the Fire Marshall's position for Polk County and retired on October 31, 2013. He is preceded in death by his parents, Huey Barbee and Ollie Mae (Hinson) Barbee; wife, Frances Barbee; and brother, Edward Barbee.

He is survived by his son, Nelson Barbee of Livingston, Texas; sister, Joe Ann Millington of Millington, Tennessee; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Honorary Pallbearers: Polk County Sheriff's Department and all of the Volunteer Fire Departments in Polk County.
