James Douglas “Jim” Buller, 78, of Livingston, Texas was born August 6, 1947, in Houston, Texas and passed away March 29, 2026, in Livingston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Love Buller and Audrey Moore Buller Pecha; and stepfather, Jerry Pecha.
Jim’s life reflected a deep sense of dedication, compassion, and perseverance. His contributions to the field of education and his unwavering commitment to his students will be remembered with great respect and admiration by all who had the privilege to know him.
Throughout his career with the Livingston Independent School District, Jim served as an Agriculture and Shop teacher, specializing in Farm and Ranch studies. His commitment to education went beyond the classroom; he spent 17 years as a Special Education co-op Vocational Coordinator, tirelessly working to support students with unique learning needs and helping them achieve their full potential. Even after his official retirement, Jim’s passion for teaching endured as he continued to serve as a homebound teacher, ensuring that every student had access to the educational support they deserved.
He is survived by his wife, Lyn Buller of Livingston, Texas; son, James Douglas “Jimbo” Buller Jr. and wife Robin of Kingsport, Tennessee; daughters, Julia Lanea Buller of Lampasas, Texas, and Holli Chanel Harris and husband Steve of Montgomery, Texas; son, Joshua Tyler Kelley and wife Kara of Livingston, Texas; brother, Johnny Ray Buller and wife Becky of New Boston, Texas; grandchildren, Ammy Jaimes, Amelia Warren, Nathan Warren, James Douglas Buller III, Grady Skelton, Gracelyn Skelton, Gavin Kelley, Weston Kelley, and Kaden Goodwin; and great grandchildren, Noah, Aria, Greyson, and Elton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Honorary Pallbearers: Class of ’65, Claud Thomas, Mike Stanford, Doug Stanford, David Smith, Bob Hall, Kenny Pitts, and Truman Minter.
In honor of Jim, the family will be hosting a memorial service at a later date.
