Obituary

Memorial services for James Price "Jim" Wilson, 90, of Rye, Texas, will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Romayor Baptist Church in Romayor, Texas with Rev. David Adcox officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2016 beginning at 4:00 p.m. until the service begins at 7:00 p.m.

James Price "Jim" Wilson lost his battle with cancer on July 13, 2016 at his home. Jim was born on September 14, 1925 in Louisville, Ky. He was currently employed with Liberty County as Liberty County's Fire Marshal and dedicated his life to the fire service. Jim held numerous positions as Chief, Assistant Chief, Captain, Lieutenant, Firefighter, Fire Marshal, and Asst. Fire Marshal throughout his years. He was also a United States Army Veteran. Jim loved to hunt and fish these were his 2 favorite hobbies. He was a member of 1st Baptist Church of Romayor where he was also a Sunday school teacher. Jim started the Liberty County Fire Fighters Association in 1972 and was still a current and active member in the organization at his death.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Yolanda Koehler and husband Robert of Haughton, La.; sons, Johnny Walters and wife Delrey of Oklahoma and Jeff Walters and wife Janie of Weatherford, Texas. Jim had 4 grandsons- Shaun Holmes and wife Michelle, Chad Walters and wife Sarah, Shannon Holmes and wife Meredith, and Shane Holmes and with Tory. Jim had 1 granddaughter Stacy Walters. Jim had 7 great grandchildren. Jim had 2 self-adopted children Sherry Walton and husband Ricky of Hardin and Brett Audilet and wife Terri of Hardin. Jim is preceded in death by his wife Joan Walters Wilson and his parents Judson & Marie Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim Wilson's name to the Liberty County Fire Fighters Training Center.
