Funeral services for James Earl Phillips, 84, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas with Rev. Mike Meadows and Rev. Kevin Hendrix officiating. Interment will follow in the Peebles Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held Monday, January 5, 2015 beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.
Mr. Phillips was born July 29, 1930 in Livingston, Texas, to parents, Ivan Raymond Phillips and Dovie (Gaylord) Phillips, and passed away January 2, 2015 in Livingston, Texas. During his life, James was a member of the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department #17 from March 3, 1959 until December 31, 1963. He was also a past president of the youth rodeo, an ordained deacon, a great family man and one heck of a daddy. He is preceded in death by his parents, and grandson, Philip Jess Sheppard.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patsy Phillips of Livingston, Texas; sons, James David Phillips and Karen of Sabinal, Texas, Bobby Lynn Phillips of Livingston, Texas; daughters, Gayle Anne Sheppard and Jerry of Fairfield, Texas, Susan Kay Hayter and John of Montgomery, Texas; grandchildren, James Allen Phillips, Kelly Wren, Logan Hayter, Barrett Jess Phillips, Lindsey Lane, Kassi Bevill, Paige Damerow, Tye Phillips; great-grandchildren, Annabell, Ivy, James Talon, Riley, Reegan, Branton, Abigail, Tripp; sister, Emma Alice Tinney and Danny of Livingston, Texas; special niece, Lisa Jan Henderson of Kingwood, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.
