James Monroe Pitts was born April 1. 1934, in Laurel, Mississippi to parents, Albert Wiggins Pitts, and Viola Creel Pitts. He passed away from natural causes June 13, 2021, in La Marque, Texas. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, brother, Albert Roland Pitts; sisters, Alner Eubanks and Ruby Smith. James was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Nell Pitts of Livingston, Texas.

He is survived by daughters, Patricia Pitts of Houston, Regina Summers and her husband, Brian Summers of Channelview, and Tina Pitts of Texas City; granddaughter, Kristin Summers of Channelview; and granddaughter, Brittney Summers of Channelview, as well as sister, Virginia Chandler of Ovett, Mississippi.
