Funeral services for James Michael Read, 61, of Onalaska, Texas, will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Onalaska, Texas with Rev. Marvin Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska, Texas. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, June 24, 2014 also at Cochran Funeral Home in Onalaska, Texas.

Mr. Read was born on February 7, 1953 in Runnels County, Texas and passed away on June 23, 2014 in Shenandoah, Texas. He worked as an assistant professor at Sam Houston State University. He is preceded in death by his father, James Dorsey Read; brother, Robert Read; and sister, J-Ann Taylor.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Brittany Read of Trinity, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, James and Chelsea Read of Livingston, Texas; son, Matthew Read of Onalaska, Texas; mother and step-father, Betty and Robert L. Behrns of Huffman, Texas; grandson, James Robert Read of Livingston, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Stephan Duman of Huffman, Texas; nieces and nephews, Katie Duman of Huffman, Texas, Stephan Duman of Huffman, Texas, and David Duman of Huffman, Texas; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Mr. Read will be escorted to his grave by pallbearers: Michael Newport, Stephan Duman, Roy Newport, Arnold Ortiz, Robert Behrns, and Ty Gongora.
