Funeral services for James F. "Ricky" Liljequist, 75, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Rev. Roger Clayton and Rev. James Frazier officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2017 in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.
James F. (Ricky) Liljequist, age 75 of Livingston, Texas passed away in Conroe, Texas on January 13, 2018.
He was born to Merial and Gunnar F. Liljequist on October 26, 1942 at Camden, Texas. He was raised by his beloved Grandparents, Essie and J.B. (Blackie) Chandler.
Ricky spent his early years in Corrigan, Texas and attended Corrigan High School and later Sam Houston State University and Stephen F. Austin University. He was a businessman in Corrigan for many years, operating Essie's Café, Corrigan Western Store and owning Rick's Custom Building. He built and remodeled many homes, businesses and schools in the surrounding areas. In his early years he was an avid calf roper and worked with his own children ad many of the Corrigan youth to help them learn to rope and ride. He was a talented and master craftsman with all types of woodwork. In later life, he owned and operated Rick's Custom Hats and was well known far and wide for his skills with western hats.
He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, his Grandparents, Brother Dennis Liljequist and Step-Son Chad Hambrick.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Cheryl Liljequist, his two Sons Tony B. Liljequist and Ricky Shane Liljequist, his Daughters Tina Sullivan and Terra Murphree and her husband Barry Murphree, his Step-Daughter Jeri Hambrick Smith and her husband Rocky Smith. Grandchildren: Tara Liljequist, Tyler Calhoun, Wyatt Sullivan, Colt Liljequist, Brent Liljequist and Andrew Hambrick.
Also, he would want mentioned his side kick and love, his little dog Lady,
Pallbearers are Grandsons: Wyatt Sullivan, Tyler Calhoun, Brent Liljequist, Andrew Hambrick and also Randy Locke and Rocky Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are: Emory C. Watts, George Freeman, Don Skinner, Kenneth McGarrahan, Bo Smith, Rusty Broom, Donald Broom and Carol Jernigan.
