James Stanley Titlow

A memorial service for James Stanley Titlow, 85, of Willis, Texas will be held Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at the Woodland Oaks Church of Christ in The Woodlands, Texas.

James Stanley Titlow, known by many as “Stan the Man,” passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on September 8, 2026, in Willis, Texas. He was born on September 21, 1940, in Llano, Texas as the firstborn son of Stanford Payne and Mary Ellen Titlow. He was just shy of his 86th birthday.

Stan met the love of his life, Linda Ramsden, when they were still in grade school. They began dating while attending Sam Houston High School in Houston, Texas. Shortly after graduating, Stan and Linda were married and began a life together centered on faith, family, hard work & adventure.

Stan and Linda explored several business endeavors in their marriage. In 1979, they co-founded Atlas Sign Services, Inc. in Houston. Together, they built the family-owned company into a successful and respected business, working side by side with their son, Stanford Carter Titlow, and many other family members.

Stan’s strong work ethic, determination, and commitment to doing things the right way became the foundation of the company and helped establish a legacy that continues to this day. One of the greatest values he worked to instill in his family was the importance of a strong work ethic. In fact, nearly everyone in his immediate family, along with several members of his extended family, worked at Atlas Sign Company at some point over the years.

Stan retired in 2018. After retirement, he and Linda devoted themselves to caring for their son, Stanford, until his passing in 2019 following a battle with bladder cancer.

Today, Atlas Sign Company is proudly owned and operated by two of Stan’s grandsons, Tyler and Austin Huff. The company remains a lasting testament to the hard work, dedication, and family legacy that Stan and Linda built together.

In 2019, after more than 50 years in their Houston home, Stan and Linda moved to their home on Lake Conroe. Stan loved life on the lake and especially enjoyed opening their home to family and friends. He and Linda hosted countless gatherings filled with fishing, swimming, laughter, and, of course, a meal that was usually enough to “feed the 5,000”!

Stan was well respected in his community and will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved God and faithfully attended Longmire Road Church of Christ in Conroe, Texas. Even as he faced the challenges of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, Stan’s positive spirit remained. When someone asked how he was doing, his answer was often simple and sincere: “I’m happy!” Those words perfectly captured Stan’s outlook on life. He loved a good party, a family gathering, and a great meal. Most of all, he loved being surrounded by the people he loved.

Stan is preceded in death by his parents, Stanford and Mary Titlow; his beloved son, Stanford Titlow; and other family members who were entered into eternal rest before him.

He is survived by his loving & devoted wife of nearly 67 years, Linda Titlow; daughter-in-law Annette Titlow, wife of his late son Stanford; daughter Pam & husband, Don Spradlin; daughter Kim & husband, Darrell Howard; seven grandchildren: Nolan Spradlin and wife Taylor; Jackie & husband Zac Godbold; Erin & husband Justin Hale; Alexandria & husband Dan Ferenczy; Austin Huff and wife Emilee; Tyler Huff and wife Alyssa and Tori & husband Ty Engelhardt; his brothers Jack and Larry Titlow; sister Janet Foreman; along with 18 precious greatgrandchildren, with another great-grandchild on the way; and numerous other beloved cousins, nieces & nephews.

Stan taught his family the value of hard work, deep love, helping others, and cherishing the people God placed in their lives. His greatest legacy is not simply what he built, but the people he loved and the values he passed on. He leaves behind more than a lifetime of memories - he leaves a family who adored him, a thriving family business, and an example of a life rooted in faith, family, hard work, generosity, and love.

Stan will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all those who were blessed to know and love him.
