Funeral services for Janie Belle Battise, 73, of Livingston, Texas, will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at the Indian Presbyterian Church with Elder Debra Battise Kleinman, CRE officiating. Interment will follow at the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation Cemetery. Visitation and the wake service will be held at 6:30 PM, Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Janie was born on December 14, 1940 in Livingston, Texas and passed away on February 16, 2014 in Conroe, Texas. She was a proud member of the Deer Clan, moderator of the Presbyterian women, ruling elder of the church, a past clerk of session for the church and the former church treasurer. She was also a member of the Presbyterian Women Synod of the Sun Coordinating Team and also worked for W.K.M Industries in Missouri City, Texas for 10 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Ella (Battise) Sylestine; brothers, Lowell Sylestine, Gordon Sylestine, and Lawrence Battise; sister, Veniece Johnson; brothers-in-law, Virgil Battise, James Battise and Coyd Langley; sons, Brian Eric Battise and Allen Sanders; nephews and niece, Linus Battise, Calvin Johnson, and Dolores Battise.

She is survived by her husband, Edwin Battise of Livingston; daughter and son-in-law, Blanche and Sheldon Thompson of Livingston; granddaughter, Shelby Thompson of Livingston; sister and brother-in-law, Deloris and Herbert Johnson, Sr. of Livingston; sister, Beryl Battise of Livingston; brother and sister-in-law, Amon and Deborah Sylestine of Livingston; sister-in-law, Annie Langley of Livingston; daughter-in-law, Dawn Sanders of Livingston; sister-in-law, Bertha Battise of Livingston; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Joann Bradford of Livingston; nephews, Davie Johnson, Delbert Johnson, Herbert Johnson, Jr., Lance Battise, Rory Battise, Ethan Battise, Travis Sylestine, Rayne Langley, Raven Langley, and Elvis Battise; nieces, Retha Johnson, Heather Battise, Jonelle Battise, Tanisha Sylestine, Debrina Sylestine, Kerrie Moreno, Liza Johnson, Maudine Abbey, Jeralyn Mullins, Patricia Langley, Karen Williams, and Kerri Battise Williams; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers: Bryan Williams, Jeff Williams, Sherald Sylestine, Pete Polite, Len Sylestine, and Scott Thompson. All of the nieces and nephews will be honorary pallbearers.
