LIVINGSTON ?Çö Dr. Jay Arlyn Workman, D.C., noted community leader and resident of Livingston, was fatally injured in an automobile accident on Sunday morning, June 13, 2010, in Livingston.

""Dr. Jay,"" as he was known in the local community, was born in St. Petersburg, Pinellas County, Fla. on April 8, 1966, to the late William John Workman and his wife, Julie Ann Mangus Workman Gustafson.

As a boy, Jay Workman was called to be a ""healer"" when his father became very ill. As such, he decided to become a chiropractor. He attended San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena, Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and University of New York in New York City.

Through his practice and his deep faith, ""Dr. Jay"" physically and spiritually ministered to many patients, friends and family. He was an active member of the Livingston business community, a noted philanthropist, and community activist. His patients were appreciative of his ""total wellness"" concept and his attitude of ""service"" to others.

He served through Livingston Chiropractic Clinic, Lake Area Therapy and Rehabilitation and Doctors Consulting Group in Livingston.

He was also a member of the Child Welfare Board; was bishop for the LDS Church in Livingston; coached Little League, soccer and baseball; was active in Relay for Life and was a member of the Lions Club in Livingston.

As a father, Jay was a dedicated teacher who practiced and testified to the importance of personal honesty, responsibility and respect for others.

Dr. Jay enjoyed lake sports, diving, snow-skiing, race cars, sushi, cooking, crawfish boils and spending time with friends and family.

Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Kelley Jones Workman and their five precious children, Logan, Dakota, Gavin, Ryker and Autumn Workman, who were the pride of his life. Dr. Jay is also survived by mother, Julie Gustafson of Mabank; brothers, Dr. Kyle Scott Workman of Tomball and Dr. Darin Wayne ""Dutch"" Workman of Cedar City, Utah; sisters, Konae Nowell of Richardson and Cea Rowe of Columbus, Ohio; adoptive family, Reed and Margarite Bringhurst of Hurricane, Utah, as well as a myriad of friends and valued associates.

Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, June 17, at Cochran Funeral Home.

A funeral service in celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 18, in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with Earl Thrift officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. Friday in Klein Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Workman, Darin Workman, Logan Workman, Dakota Workman, Gavin Workman, Lee Labrada, Jason Paske and Scott Paske. Honorary pallbearer will be Ryker Workman.
