Funeral services for Jeanne Hooks, 92, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Bro. James Frazier officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 7, 2015 beginning at 3:00 p.m. until service begins.
Mrs. Hooks was born May 7, 1923 in Huntsville, Texas to parents, Henry E. Small and Minnie O. (Prentice) Small, and passed away June 5, 2015 in Livingston, Texas. During her life, she began teaching first grade in the Livingston Independent School District on September 1, 1959 and retired May 26, 1984. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Conrad "J.C." Hooks; brothers, Donald Small and Henry Ray Small; sister, Marjorie Small Barnes; mother and father-in-law, Jim and Jerutia Hooks; brother-in-law, A.B. Hooks Sr.; nephews, Ray Hooks and A.B. "Junior" Hooks.
She is survived by her nephews, Van H. Barnes Jr. of St. Petersburg, Florida, Everett Barnes of Charlotte, North Carolina, Bryan Barnes of Pompano Beach, Florida, Jimmy Neal Hooks of Kerrville, Texas; David Hooks of Port St. Lucie, Florida; nieces, Ivy Fay Hooks of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas, Susan Small of Huntsville, Texas; special cousins, Jack and Faye Jackson, Patricia Snook; special caregivers, Martha Norris, Rose Perry, Sharenna Simmons, Angela Thompson; along with many loving family members, friends, and former 1st grade students.
