Jerry was born September 23, 1969, in Lufkin, Texas and passed away August 17, 2026, in Livingston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Dewayne Cowen Sr. and Shirley (Dueboay) Placker; sister, Angela Cowen; and grandparents, Lena and John Dueboay, and Oliver and Auda Cowen.

He is survived by his daughter, Sarah Carnley and husband Robert; granddaughter, Allie Carnley; grandson, Lane Carnley’ sisters, Sheri Boddie and husband Dicky, and Kristy Marsh and husband Cody; stepdad, Billy Placker and wife Teresa; stepmom, Shirlene Cowen, nephews, Matthew Boddie and wife Kristin, Kristopher Boddie and wife Cody, Arron Boddie and wife Paige, and Branigan Marsh; niece, Celianna Marsh; special friends, Travis Primrose and Rachel, and Virgil Miller and Roxanne; 9 great nieces and nephews; as well as several extended family members, and friends of the TDCJ Polunsky Unit.
