Mr. Jerry Lambert Hitchings Sr., 79, of Rye, Texas was born September 20, 1941 in Murdo, South Dakota to parents, Perry Hitchings and Esther (Shouldis) Hitchings, and passed away May 10, 2021 in Livingston, Texas. During his life, Mr. Hitchings proudly served his country in the United States Army in Korea. He was a life-time member of the Amvets Post #13 in Rye, Texas and also a life-time member of the VFW Post #1938 in Cleveland, Texas. He is preceded in death by his birth mother, Mary Geneva Schwarz; father and stepmother, Oscar and Hazel Schwarz; daughter, Mary Geneva Hitchings; son, Jerry "Tiger" Hitchings Jr.; and nephew, Kevin Bennett.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Hitchings of Rye, Texas; daughter, Rae Anne McLaren and husband, Jeff of Gering, Nebraska; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Judy Bennett and husband, Ed of Valentine, Nebraska, Janet Ham of Valentine, Nebraska and Betty Jo Larson of Shawnee, Oklahoma; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
