Obituary
Funeral services for Jessie May Cassett Wood, 76, of Rye, Texas, will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas with Pastor Danny Elder officiating. Interment will follow in the Pace Stancil Memorial Gardens in Cleveland, Texas. Visitation will be held Monday, September 21, 2015 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.
Mrs. Wood was born December 12, 1938 in Salida, Colorado to parents, Francis Cassett and Jessie (Smith) Cassett, and passed away September 19, 2015 in Rye, Texas. During her life, she was the proud owner of May's Quick Stop on Hwy 146 for over 25 years. She never met a stranger and was known as The Queen of The Thicket. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 59 years, John Wood; sons, Steven Wood, Clifford Wood, Raymond Wood and Curtis Wood.
She is survived by her sister, Carla Hargroves of Battle Mountain, Nevada; grandchildren, Carla Kay Wood and fiancé, Sutter, Timothy Ray Murphy and wife, Kayleen, Shauna Evelyn Wood and fiancé, Justin, Elisia Maria Lewis and husband, David, Jason Lynn Wood and Robin, Tara Nicole Wood, De'Andra Michelle Wood, Shannon Sweatt, Jesse Brunner; great-grandchildren, Sabrina, Emily, Erin, Jaidyn, Emma, Dylan, Dawson, Mikey, Wyatt, Christian, Sarah; very special support over the last 2 years of her life, Dennis and Sharon Lowery and their children, Dakota and Nacole; nephew, Jeremiah; niece, Sara; family friend, Kenneth "Butch" Dalton; daughter-in-law, Tammy Murphy Campos; she was also blessed with many additional family and friends in the Big Thicket community.
