Jimmy Wayne Cassity, age 75, passed away from this life Friday, June 1, 2012 with his family by his side in Onalaska, Texas. Jimmy was born on June 4, 1936 in Carthage, Texas, to Cecil and Evelyn Cassity. A few short years later, his family moved to Goodrich, Texas, where he attended school and his family owned and operated a sawmill for many years.
February 10, 1956, Jimmy married Alma Jean Black. To this union, three children were born, Sherry, Jerry, and Kerry. Jimmy owned and operated ""Cassity Lumber Company"" for over 50 years and was owner of the ""Cassity Caf??"" for 26 years here in Livingston. He was active in the Polk County Youth Rodeo Association and a strong supporter of all area youth events. Jimmy was a member of First Baptist Church of Livingston and was baptized August 15, 1965. He will be remembered as an honest, hard-working family man.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Alma Jean Cassity, parents, Cecil and Evelyn Cassity and sister, Jane Alvin Myrow. Jimmy is survived by daughter, Sherry Cassity Baker and husband, Wayne Reed, son, Jerry Wayne Cassity and wife, Darlyn Cassity and daughter, Kerry Cassity. Grandchildren, Cody Baker, Chism Cassity, Crockett Cassity, Chad Rowe and wife, Megan and Justin Wayne Rowe. Great Granddaughter, Libby Anne Baker. Brothers, Cecil (Sonny) Cassity and wife, Marjorie, Bobby Cassity and wife, Betty, and brother-in-law, Leroy Myrow. Special friend and caretaker, Geraldine Anderson and a host of family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 8, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston. Interment will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening beginning at 5:00 PM at the Cochran Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Cody Baker, Chism Cassity, Crockett Cassity, Chad Rowe, Justin Rowe, Jerry Cassity, and Wayne Reed Baker. Honorary Pallbearers are A.W. (Bill) Wiggins, Emory and Nell Lowe, Billy and Barbara Coley, Helen Campbell, Bob Townley, Gloria Murphy, Shirley Cox, David Baker, Sam Elliott, and Kenneth and Jean Yarbrough.
