Jimmy Doyle Southern (81) was born December 8, 1943 in Livingston, Texas and passed away on September 22, 2025 in his home in Lufkin, Texas.

Jimmy lived a full life and loved the outdoors.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, traveling and telling stories of the good ole days.  He always said his best memories were made outdoors with his family.  Jimmy graduated from Livingston High School in 1962.  Shortly after graduation he began his career at Oncor which was previously Texas Power and Lights.  When Jimmy retired he and his wife bought an RV and traveled most of the 48 states. He returned to Lufkin when his wife became ill.

Jimmy was proceeded in death by his Wife, Irene Southern; father, Thurman D. Southern; mother, Helen Lowe Byrne; and brother-in-law, Roy Keith David.

Jimmy is survived by his sons, Jeffery Doyle Southern and wife Joe Nelle Southern of Lufkin, Texas, John Douglas Southern of Lufkin, Texas, James Brent Southern of Texas; stepson, Mike Barbe and wife Missie Barbe of Lufkin, Texas; sisters, Suzanne David of Livingston, Texas, Lisa Myers and husband Ray Myers; brother, Michael Byrne; grandsons: Jacob Southern and wife Elisa Southern of Sarasota, Florida, John D. Southern of Lufkin, Texas, Jameson D. Southern of Lufkin, Texas, James T. Southern and wife Kaylee Southern of Odessa, Texas, Matt Barbe and wife Callie of Lufkin, Texas; granddaughters, Jessica D. Wallace and husband Blake Wallace of Lufkin, Texas, Maci Southern Ellisor and husband Ty Ellisor of Lufkin, Texas, and Megan Barbe of Lufkin, Texas; great grandchildren, Josie Southern of Sarasota, Florida, Stormi Southern of Sarasota, Florida, Wrenlee Wallace of Lufkin, Texas, Katie Southern of Odessa, Texas, Beckett Southern of Odessa, Texas, Maverick Southern of Odessa, Texas, Paxton Ellisor of Lufkin, Texas, Raleigh Ellisor of Lufkin, Texas, Emmy Barbe of Lufkin, Texas, and Brody Barbe of Lufkin, Texas.

Graveside service will be held October 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at Restland Memorial Park Cemetery, located at 4434 US Hwy 59 S. Livingston, Texas.
