Jo Ann was peacefully called home to our Lord on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.
She was born June 25, 1938, to Gladys and John Stokley. Jo Ann grew up in Trinity, TX, and was actively involved in her high school band. After her graduation in 1956, she moved to Houston, TX, and attended YWCA. Little did she know she would end up on a blind date with her only true love, Billy (Cookie) Hogg. They married on November 23, 1957. They had two beautiful children together, Billy (Wayne) and Elizabeth Anne. Jo Ann worked as an administrative assistant at Tenneco for 14 years until she retired.
Billy and Jo Ann relocated to Livingston, TX in 1995 where Jo Ann worked for Livingston Independent School District for approximately 15 years and was a member of First Presbyterian Church as their pianist and organist.
Jo Ann loved to read the Bible, play the piano, pray for and with others, spend time with her family, play dominos, and always laugh and joke. She was the sweetest soul and to know her is to love her. She loved her family unconditionally, was always there to greet you with a "Hey baby" and the biggest hug. She had a unique relationship with her grandchildren due to her invested time in their lives enhanced by her generous spirit and unconditional love.
Jo Ann will be remembered as a selfless, altruistic wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always wore her beautiful smile even when times were tough. She had a quiet strength and a feisty spirit.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband Billy, her father John, her mother Gladys, and her siblings John Randall and Clara.
Jo Ann is survived by her son Wayne, daughter Elizabeth, and Son-in-law Phillip; niece: Jessica Stokley; 3 great-nephews: Cole, Hayden and Carsyn; 1 great-niece: Blakeney; grandchildren: Kristen and Brian, Karla and Jimmy, Kasey and Isaias, Kassie, Kelsi and Daniel, Kayla, Phillip Jr., Wayne Jr., and Trelisa; 18 great-grandchildren Shi'Anne, Kyn'Dalynn, TraeVione Jr., Jaiden, Christopher, Caleb, Tessalyn, Kamryn, Kyla, Emma, Cheyenne, Colby, Klayton, Kaleigh, Bryce, Blake, Haleigh and Hannah; 2 great-great grandchildren: Oliver and Colt.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 12:00 on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Cochran Funeral Home, 406 N Yaupon Ave. Livingston, TX. Services will begin at 12:00 with Interment following at Glendale Cemetery in Glendale, TX.
