Mrs. JoAnn Vela Nelson Timmons, 68, of Livingston, Texas was born on January 23, 1953 in Houston, Texas to parents, Jessie Antone Vela and Neva (Blackerby) Vela Bolton and passed away January 12, 2022 in Livingston, Texas. She is preceded in death by her father; daughter, Angela Nelson Stanley; sister, Theresa Vela Burks; and brother, Anthony Vela.

She is survived by her mother, Neva Vela Bolton of Livingston, Texas; son, Sammy Nelson of Porter, Texas; daughters, Crystal Bertelsen of Gatesville, Texas, Carrie Nelson of Baytown, Texas, and Samantha Campbell of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren, Brett Foisie, Colton Foisie, Cheyanne Stanley, James Stanley, Isaiah Stanley, Evan Nelson, Joshua Garefolas, Xander Shepherd, Brendan Shepherd, Michaela Hammond, Mackenzie Hammond, Madison Hammond, and Bailey Nelms; great-grandchildren, Layna Foisie, Loni Foisie, Lexin Foisie, Chandler Shepherd, Sage Stanley, and Kylen Foisie; sister, Rosie Atkinson; and brother, Paul Vela; along with numerous nieces nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
