Joe D. Clifton, age 71 of Livingston, Texas, passed away on July 30, 2012, in Houston, Texas. He was born on July 6, 1941, in Livingston, to parents, J.A. ""Shorty"" Clifton and Ellen Berniece Wilkerson Clifton. Joe and Mary Lou Fears married on October 19, 1963, having two sons born to this union. Joe owned and operated many businesses including his present company, Joe Clifton Trucking. He loved his family, friends and especially his grandchildren. A special thanks to Judy and Harold Isaacs. They are dear friends and Harold was like a brother to Joe.
Joe is preceded in death by his father, J.A. ""Shorty"" Clifton; step-father, J.C. Baker; step-mother Alma Clifton; sister Delilah Sue; brother, Jimmy Clifton; great nephew, James Keith Hindsman. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Mary Lou Clifton; two sons, Joe Delane Clifton, Jr. and Carl Allison ""Bubba"" Clifton, both of Livingston; mother, Bernice Baker of Livingston; granddaughter, Bailea Clifton of Magnolia; grandson, Hunter Clifton of Magnolia; three brothers and their wives, John and Frances Clifton, Donnis and Elaine Clifton, Mike and Theresa Clifton, all of Livingston; two sisters and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Rock McGraph of Montgomery and Deborah Clifton of Livingston; two brothers-in-law and wife, Carl Gene Fears of Livingston, Jimmy and Patty Fears of Goodrich; two sisters-in-law and husband, Patricia Adams of Goodrich, Joan and Babe Ray Atchley of Goodrich; two special nieces, Vickie Fitzgerald of Louisiana and Michelle Munson of Livingston; special nephew, Billy Hindsman of Livingston.
Funeral service swill be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 2, 2012, at Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston. Bro. Bobby Myers and Rev. Harold Isaacs will conduct the services. Pallbearers are Larry Johns, Bob Hall, Clint Warren, William ""Worm"" Hindsman, Jimmy Holder, Bobby Peters and Bobby Claude Isaacs. Following the chapel service, interment will be held at Peebles Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston.
